How do we make a booking ?

Please note the props that you wish to hire, and simply call or email to check the availablity of your chosen props. At the time of placing your order we will ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit.

When is the final payment due?

The balance of the complete cost of the hire (inclusive of delivery & collection charge) is due for payment 30 days prior to your event. If payment is not received, we reserve the right to withdraw our acceptance of your order. No delivery will be made without receipt of the full balance (plus the security/ damage deposit)

Is there a security deposit ?

Yes, a separate and fully refundable security/damages deposit is required, to cover the cost of any lost, damaged or stolen props. This will refunded back to you within 24 hours of the props being returned, and once they have been checked for any damage or loss. It is advisable to check the goods upon receipt to check for any damage prior to signing the delivery note. Missing and/or damage to the hired goods will be charged at the replacement cost price of each item, and deducted accordingly from the security deposit. If the cost of the missing/ damaged goods exceeds the deposit held, the a bill will be issued. Details of the replacement cost charges are available upon request.

How can we pay ?

Payment options include Paypal or Bank Transfer.

What is the rental period?

Your rental covers a 3 day period of hire, including the day before , the day of, and the day after the event. If you wish to arrange for an extended hire and hold your hired goods for longer than the contracted period, please contact us in advance to check availablity of the products, and the cost of the extended hire. Unauthorised extensions to the rental period will be charged at the current rates, plus a daily £50 penalty.

Is delivery of the props included?

Delivery of the props within a 15 mile radius of Wantage (OX12 8BL) will be included in your rental fee. If your event is further away, then a charge of 70 pence per mile will be added.



Can we collect the props ourselves?

Yes, collection of props is possible by prior arrangment at no additional cost. Please note that two forms of ID must be shown at the time of collection, (photo ID - passport/ drivers licence & an ID showing the address of the client : utlity bill)  

What happens if the props get damaged?

The goods in your care shall remain your sole responsibility at all times. Hotels/Venues/Florists/Wedding planners/ or any other third party will be exempt from any responsibility regarding the rented props, and will not be accountable, should any damage occur whilst in their possession. Substitute items will not be accepted and all damaged goods remain the property of White Horse Prop Rental and should therefore be returned.

What happens if we do not use the props?

No refunds or credits will be issued for any items that are returned unused. 

Can we rent props at the last minute ?

Yes, subject to prop availability, any rentals made within three days of the event taking place, must be paid in full, including the security/damage deposit.

Do we see the goods prior to the event?

The props will be delivered to you at a pre-arranged time, and we recommend that you make a thorough inspection of the items, prior to signing the delivery receipt. In the event of any missing items or damage, then the client shall note this on the delivery note at the time of delivery / collection. If the client fails to do this, then the props will be deemed to have been delivered/ collected in a clean and immaculate condition. 

Are your electrical goods PAT tested ?

Yes, all of our electrical goods are fully PAT tested and appropriately labelled with recent test stickers. This will ensure that they are safe, and that they are fully authorised for use within historic buildings.



Do we have to clean the props prior to returning them?

Yes, all props supplied must please be returned to us clean and ready to use. This does not include glassware - when hiring glassware they can simply be rinsed and dried and returned to us, as we are happy to clean our own glassware to ensure there are minimal breakages.  Caution should be exercised in particular with use of the glassware: we shall not be held responsible for any damage/injury/ loss caused as a result of using any hired items.

Do you have a cancellation policy ?

Yes, once we have received your booking  deposit, and confimed your prop hire, there is a 12 month cancellation policy in effect, this is calculated as a precentage of your overall full rental fee, and is charged as follows : 

Between 5 and 12 months - 0% charge

Less than 5 months and more than 28 days before the event - 50% charge

Less than 28 days and more than 14 days before the event - 75% charge

Less than 14 days notice - 100% charge

No notice of cancellation  - 100% charge

What are my statutory rights?

If for any reason, you are not entirely satisfied with your goods/ service, then your statutory rights are not affected and your complaints can be made by emailing us at : These terms and conditions and any contract formed between us shall be governed by the law of England and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English court.

How does my rental fee support Helen & Douglas House, our local childrens' hospice ?

All of your prop rentals will help to support this wonderful hospice. At the same time as I arrange the refund of your own security deposit, I will donate 10% of all of  your entire booking fee to Helen & Douglas House. I was very honoured to have volunteered at the hospice for three years so it has a very special place in my heart , and is such a worthy charity to support.

We are looking for some particular props that you don't have in your current range, do you help source these props for us ?

Yes, if you have something particular in mind, I am very happy to try and locate the item for you, I am always adding to my collection so will be very happy to hear your suggestions.
